The summer vacation for 2010 is in.
Moms, who cherish their roles and enjoy spending vacation with kids, are busy finding maids to help out with cleaning chores, during the season.
Others are busy seeking out safe daycare centres.
With the heat at its peak, District Collector has already issued orders to restrict outdoor activities in schools during March itself, to avoid sunstroke and related ailments.
KSEB, too, by now having submitted a load shedding proposal for domestic consumers and with undeclared power cuts already a common feature, kids are sure to have a hard time staying indoors this summer.
However the sports and arts arena is all set to grab kids during this period. So are the railway and travel agencies. Many packages clubbing different destinations have been proposed on economy rates for travel by air.
Many institutions have extended their regular arts and sports classes to special batches spanning 3-5 per week or a full fortnight to start with. Vacation only programs are also in full swing. So are summer camps and exhibitions.
Unlike in villages where kids have a diverse set of games and activities to engage themselves and often fall short of time, at the end of the day; kids in cities have numerous limitations. Even finding an amicable group of playmates, by itself is a lucky dip, or dream for some in cities. In some areas, residential associations and community living cater to these needs to a certain extent.
A peep into the proposals for summer 2010 targeting kids in the vicinity of Mananchira Square is elaborated below. Hope this would help parents to identify nearest and suitable vocation for their kids and also the range of activities available.
